Below are our favourite loop, the legendary Route des Cr\u00eates, Mont Ventoux and a GPX to take with you.<\/p>\n<h2>The lake loop: around the Lac de Sainte-Croix (\u00b1 67 km)<\/h2>\n<p>A beautiful day&#8217;s ride with varied scenery and manageable climbing: about 67 km around the turquoise Lac de Sainte-Croix.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Start in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie<\/strong>, one of the most beautiful villages in France, nestled against the cliffs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>To the Pont du Galetas and Aiguines:<\/strong> along the northern shore with that turquoise water always in view, then a climb to the hill village of Aiguines overlooking the whole lake.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Southern shore via Les Salles-sur-Verdon and Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon:<\/strong> quieter roads along the shore, with little beaches to cool off.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Back to Moustiers<\/strong> across the rolling plateau.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"background:#eef6e0;border-radius:8px;padding:12px 16px\"><strong>\ud83d\udccd GPX route:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.limounie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/velo-lac-sainte-croix.gpx\" download>Download the GPX of the lake loop<\/a> (\u00b1 67 km) for your bike computer or phone.<\/p>\n<h2>The Route des Cr\u00eates: the challenge<\/h2>\n<p>For those who want to climb: the Route des Cr\u00eates near La Palud-sur-Verdon is a panoramic 23 km loop with 14 viewpoints high above the Grand Canyon. Note: about 15 of the 23 km are one-way, clockwise, so follow the signed direction from the village. Allow more than 3 hours with photo stops. The road is open from late March to late November, and is perfectly doable on an electric bike too (rental in La Palud). For more kilometres, ride the Corniche Sublime: a large loop of about 83 km around the whole gorge.<\/p>\n<h2>Mont Ventoux<\/h2>\n<p>The legendary Mont Ventoux is within day-trip range (about an hour and a half by car).
